Rohde & Schwarz is delivering and implementing its full IP voice communication system, CERTIUM VCS, to the international airports in Skopje and Ohrid in the Republic of North Macedonia. Under a contract with North-Macedonian Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) M-NAV GOJSC, who is operating throughout the national territory of the republic, factory acceptance tests (FAT) were recently concluded at the Rohde & Schwarz Center of Competence for VCS in Bucharest, Romania. Currently the installation and deployment of the project are successfully undergoing on site.
M-NAV GOJSC will use CERTIUM VCS to cover the main operations of the area control center (ACC), the airport control towers (tower and/or approach), as well as simulator and to provide integrated air-ground and ground-ground communications.
One of the challenges of the project was to integrate two remote working position at Ohrid airport as a part of the same voice communications system deployed at Skopje airport. Due to the cutting-edge VoIP technology embedded within CERTIUM VCS, an easy implementation of VPN communications for the equipment located at both sites is enabled. CERTIUM VCS provides full redundancy, including distributed deployment over various sites. The contract between M-NAV GOJSC and Rohde & Schwarz was signed in May 2022.
Dragoljub Patchev, Project manager at the M-NAV Technical Department, emphasizes: “The Rohde & Schwarz communication system is very advanced and flexible, ahead of time, solution for M-NAV GOJSC that can enable our future expansions and ensure to meet all our requirements for provisioning safe, secure and efficient air traffic management in North Macedonia.”
”Our CERTIUM VCS solution offers outstanding flexibility and we are confident the new system in North Macedonia will improve safety, security and efficiency, helping M-NAV GOJSC cope with evolving ATC operational requirements,” Alexandru Negulescu, Managing Director, Rohde & Schwarz Center of Competence for VCS, concludes.
