Frequentis Canada Limited has been selected by the prime contractor Thales Canada Inc. to provide mission critical communication equipment for its Tactical Control Radar (TCR) contract with the Department of National Defence (DND). The contract, to support the future mission success of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), consists of three new TCR systems, to be located in Bagotville, Quebec, and Cold Lake, Alberta.
The TCR modernization project will allow the RCAF to continue to support national and international operations, providing tactical, transportable, long-range air surveillance and aerospace control capability.
“At Frequentis Canada we are very proud to have been selected by Thales Canada for the important TCR mission. We bring with us decades of experience and our field-proven, military-grade IT solutions, used by multiple forces around the globe. This project builds on our existing installed base in Canada and a strong relationship with the Royal Canadian Air Force”, commented Michael Lang, Managing Director of Frequentis Canada Limited.
Under the TCR contract, Frequentis will deliver, and provide support for, its world-leading communication products, including its IP multi-domain secure communications system and its communication recording system. Both products are fielded with some of Canada’s key military allies and the recording solution is also used widely around the globe in highly demanding civilian Air Traffic Control (ATC) applications.
“Thales Canada is very pleased to have Frequentis Canada on our TCR team and we have great confidence in the capabilities, availability and supportability of the two products they will be providing to us”, added Chris Pogue, Vice President and Managing Director of Thales Canada Defence & Security.
The Frequentis secure communication system provides continuous and secure voice over IP (VoIP) for access to all Link 16 voice channels, location independence and bulletproof technology, with built in redundancy. The Frequentis recording solution provides thorough documentation of all events and activities in a control room environment and is fully compliant with the latest ED-137 standard (currently ED-137C), while providing backwards compatibility with legacy versions.
