LDACS (L-band Digital Aeronautical Communications System), a new air-to-ground communications standard for air traffic communications enables a connection between aircraft and the terrestrial infrastructure, similarly to cellular telephony.
Rohde & Schwarz is one of the few manufacturers that is deeply involved in the implementation of both ground and airborne LDACS equipment. With decades of experience in VHF, UHF and HF communications that are used by aircraft pilots as well as air traffic controllers, is best placed to drive the future of LDACS.
The webinar will provide a general overview about the benefits of LDACS for aeronautical users like ANSPs, Airliners and others. LDACS will for instance enable new services by providing a significantly higher over-the-air bandwidth compared to existing VHF data link services. The LDACS fielding strategy shown within the second part of the webinar takes into account that existing infrastructures can be upgraded without major changes to allow a fast and cost-efficient roll out of the LDACS technology.
LDACS was developed involving several research institutes and industry. One of the key players with in the LDACS research scene is the German Aerospace Center DLR in Germany. Rohde & Schwarz has a long term partnership with the DLR within Germany which will be highlighted by DLR within the webinar, which include the successful joining forces to help develop LDACS technology.
LDACS is part of the roadmaps for the Future Aeronautical Communication Infrastructure. The current status will be shown which concludes the webinar.
In this webinar, you will learn how is the pragmatic way in the implementation and roll out of LDACS with the existing infrastructures, with the sharing of its benefits and approaches.
